NAVARRE BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Construction has begun on a saltwater pool at the Navarre Beach Sea Turtle Conservation Center.
Officials say the pool will likely be completed by week’s end. The center’s spokeswoman Jennifer Polus says a stadium with seating for 30 people will be built next to the pool.
The Pensacola News Journal (https://on.pnj.com/1ntUHat ) reports the new pool will be home to two sea turtles too injured to return to the wild.
Polus says it will give the public a “chance to observe the turtles.”
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission will inspect the pool and send injured turtles to the conservation group.
