JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - The Karl Rove-backed Crossroads GPS is running a new ad in Alaska, suggesting Democratic U.S. Sen. Mark Begich has not done enough in response to problems within the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Crossroads, in a release, said it’s spent $450,000 on the ad buy. The ad was to begin a weeklong run Wednesday.
Begich, who is seeking re-election, serves on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee.
His campaign manager, Susanne Fleek-Green, said fighting to ensure veterans receive the care they deserve isn’t about politics. She said Begich sought answers within 24 hours of the problems within the Arizona VA system coming to light and has pushed to improve veterans’ care in Alaska.
