ARIZONA CITY, Ariz. (AP) - The mother of a teenage burglary suspect is in custody for allegedly punching a Pinal County Sheriff’s sergeant.

Sheriff’s officials say 37-year-old Sanqusia Johnson is being held on suspicion of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer, disorderly conduct and obstruction of a governmental operation.

They say two boys aged 16 and 17 were spotted Saturday evening by a deputy on patrol in Arizona City.

The deputy recognized the juveniles and knew detectives wanted them for questioning in connection with several recent residential burglaries.

Sheriff’s officials say both teens were detained.

But when authorities were set to question the 17-year-old, sheriff’s officials say Johnson arrived and allegedly became belligerent and confrontational with the deputies and sergeant.

They say Johnson allegedly struck the sergeant in the face with her left hand.
