HEBER CITY, Utah (AP) - A Utah man who professed at the bank and on social media to be a police officer and army sergeant is pleading guilty to communications fraud and theft charges after buying a new Audi with a bogus check.

Court documents show the 27-year-old Jeremy Keith Taulborg has admitted to writing the false $28,000 check to a local car dealership in February and stealing belongings from his ex-girlfriend after they broke up in March.

Police say Taulborg claimed he was a police officer in Park City and Ohio, a special deputy U.S. marshal and a U.S. Army Special Forces sergeant. Park City officials say he’s never worked for the police department.

A judge has dismissed further felony fraud charges and misdemeanor charges.
