WANTAGH, N.Y. (AP) - New security measures have been implemented at a Long Island high school following a rash of threatening messages.
They include a ban on backpacks and large bags.
According to Newsday (https://nwsdy.li/1piliah ), students have to carry their books and belongings in clear plastic bags. They also are banned from using their lockers.
The new safety measures were outlined in a May 22 letter from schools Superintendent Maureen Goldberg and posted on the school’s website.
Other measures include new security cameras.
In recent weeks, the school has received several threats involving messages that included the threat of a bomb. One was left in a boy’s bathroom on May 1.
