UNIONTOWN, Pa. (AP) - A defense attorney must spend up to 23 months in drug treatment for bringing heroin and other drugs to a client at a southwestern Pennsylvania city’s police booking center.
Thirty-five-year-old Brian Salisbury, of Newell, pleaded guilty last month and was sentenced Wednesday to 11½ to 23 months in the Fayette County jail. But the sentencing judge paroled him immediately, and ordered Salisbury to enter the treatment program over the objection of state prosecutors.
Salisbury will be jailed if he fails to complete the treatment.
Uniontown police charged Salisbury in July after a surveillance camera showed him passing the drugs to a client in a holding cell. The client told police he was addicted and had Salisbury bring him drugs to avoid withdrawal sickness.
Salisbury has since acknowledged a drug problem and resigned his law license.
