HOLYOKE, Mass. (AP) - State police say a driver suspected of eluding troopers during a brief chase in Holyoke has been killed in a crash with another vehicle.
Troopers tried to stop a car for motor vehicle violations on Route 391 around 8 p.m. Tuesday, but the driver refused. Police say a brief chase took place but was called off once the suspect left the highway.
A short time later, troopers came upon a crash involving the suspect, a Springfield man about 25 years old who suffered fatal injuries, and another motorist. The other driver suffered serious injuries and has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
The crash is being investigated.
