LAURELDALE, Pa. (AP) - Authorities say a woman escaped serious injury when she was struck by a runaway car in an eastern Pennsylvania cemetery on Memorial Day.
The Reading Eagle (https://bit.ly/1my7YeL ) reports that the accident happened in Gethsemane Cemetery in Berks County.
Muhlenberg police said the 69-year-old Wyomissing woman was on her knees planting flowers downhill from the mausoleum at about noon Monday when an unoccupied car that was accidentally left in drive came down the hill toward her.
Officer Wayne Moreland said the owner yelled a warning and the woman stood up, which probably saved her life since the car was traveling at least 10 miles per hour when it struck her.
She was taken to Reading Hospital with injuries including a bloody nose and knee pain but was expected to recover.
