TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The new president of the Trenton school board has made a legal filing to preserve her right to sue the school district over an injury her son sustained earlier this year.

The Times of Trenton (https://bit.ly/1nuJ6pg ) reports that Patrice Daley filed the notice just before being named board president.

Some critics say that puts her in violation with a regulation that a person cannot serve on the board and sue it at the same time. The Trenton Education Association says she would be removed from office.

In the filing, Daley says her son was struck in the head by a window opened by another student in January and suffered a concussion that has had lasting effects.
