COLUMBUS, Ind. (AP) - An autopsy report says the manner of death is undetermined for a gunshot victim whose body was exhumed.
The report on the April 2013 death of 49-year-old Cary Owsley of Columbus was released Tuesday by Bartholomew Circuit Court.
The Republic reports (https://bit.ly/1gyoQlQ ) Dr. Scott A Wagner wrote in the report that gunshot particles deep in the wound suggested a contact wound, and therefore, suicide, but he couldn’t rule out an accident. Wagner said there’s no evidence of a homicide “within reasonable medical certainty.”
Owlsley’s only sibling, Cheryl Jackson, had sued for the right to exhume the body after the sheriff’s department ruled the death a suicide. A second pathologist hired by Jackson hasn’t released his report yet.
Owsley was married to the ex-wife of an officer who investigated his death.
