CHESTER, S.C. (AP) - Chester County officials say two people have been found dead in a small plane that had been missing on a flight from North Carolina to Georgia.
Emergency Management Director Eddie Murphy said the plane was found in some woods around 4 p.m. Monday near the Broad River about 10 miles south of the Chester-Catawba Regional Airport.
Lt. Robert McCullough with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources says the single-engine plane had taken off from Wilmington, North Carolina on Friday and was headed to Clayton, Georgia. The plane had been reported missing Sunday.
Coroner Terry Tinker says 24-year-old Ericson Davis, a U.S. Marine from Florida, was killed in the crash. Tinker says 22-year-old Anisa Rossi, originally from Rhode Island but currently living in Wilmington, also died in the crash.
