PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A Cranston-based development group is planning to build an extended-stay hotel on the site of a former state welfare office in Providence.
Paul Sacco, the chief development officer with the Procaccianti Group, tells the Providence Journal (https://bit.ly/SJIG2Z ) the $40 million development would include a 170-bed hotel, street-level restaurant and retail space.
The hotel would be located on Fountain Street across the street from the Rhode Island Convention Center and the Dunkin’ Donuts Center.
The Procaccianti Group purchased the John E. Fogarty Memorial Building building, which had housed a state welfare office, for a reported $2.3 million in 2005.
