HELENA, Mont. (AP) - A Helena woman died when the car she was riding in was struck head-on by another car on U.S. Highway 12 about six miles north of Townsend.
The Montana Highway Patrol says a 20-year-old woman was traveling southbound at about 5:30 p.m. Sunday when her vehicle crossed the center line into the path of a car driven by a 56-year-old man. The woman corrected her vehicle to the right. The man told the patrol he expected the oncoming vehicle to continue into his lane and he corrected to the left. The vehicles collided head-on.
The Independent Record reports (https://bit.ly/TQ17DV ) the crash killed 53-year-old Lorraine Merrick, injured the 56-year-old driver and two passengers in the other car - a 15-year-old girl and a 61-year-old woman. The 20-year-old woman was not injured.
