GULFPORT, Miss. (AP) - Voters in the Gulfport School District are headed to the polls to decide whether $41.24 million should be borrowed to build a new high school campus and fund other school improvements.
Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday for city voters within the school district.
The project, which would take about three years, also includes funding for classrooms at Bayou View Middle, and Bayou View, Pass Road, Anniston and West elementary schools.
The Sun Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1ntMLUk ) a 1996 bond issue will be retired in 2016. The 1996 bond issue cost the owner of a $100,000 house about $64 in property taxes. The new bond issue would cost the same owner $104.
