GARY, Ind. (AP) - Indiana University Northwest hopes to enroll its first class in a nurse practitioner program in 2015.
Associate Health and Human Services Dean Linda Delunas told The (Munster) Times (https://bit.ly/1hrz4Qc ) for a story Monday that the Gary campus is developing the program to help meet a growing shortage of primary care physicians. She says there also was demand for the program from its nursing graduates.
Delunas says the first class in the program will train to become family nurse practitioners, but IU-Northwest may add training for specialized nurse practitioners in the future.
