BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - The federal Department of Housing and Urban Development has awarded a grant of almost $480,000 to the Louisiana Housing Corporation of Baton Rouge to help families and individuals with housing needs and to prevent foreclosures.

The state-chartered housing organization provides financial management, budget and pre-purchase counseling as well as fair housing, financial and budget, post-purchase, predatory lending, homebuyer education and mortgage delinquency workshops.

Nationally, federal housing officials are awarding more than $38 million to support housing counseling services provided by hundreds of organizations.
