GREENWOOD, Ark. (AP) - A 17-year-old Eagle Scout candidate has completed a project preserving his town’s history.
The Southwest Times Record reports (https://bit.ly/TMZJ54 ) that Charles Bailey’s project features four historical markers added to the Greenwood Walking Trail. The markers point out former locations of a pre-Depression era mill, a railroad line, a train trestle and the location of Arkansas Gov. John Sebastian Little’s birthplace.
The markers include short descriptions of the historical areas.
The Greenwood Advertising & Promotion Commission as well as Bailey’s father funded the project.
Greenwood Parks and Recreation director and newly elected mayor Doug Kinslow says he’s impressed with the quality. He says the markers are a huge asset to the trail.
