BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) - A 30-year-old Brookings man is in custody after an hours-long standoff with police.

KSFY-TV (https://bit.ly/1w9IRUF ) reports that Brookings Police responded to a report of gunshots fired around 5:15 a.m. Monday at a trailer park. Police were told the man had fired a handgun and also had a high-powered rifle.

The station reports police used gas to draw the man out of his home. Brookings Police Chief Jeff Miller says police also had to fire non-lethal impact rounds at the man as he continued to be uncooperative and aggressive toward officers.

The man was arrested on charges of possessing a firearm while intoxicated and discharging a firearm.

The station reports the man suffered a minor injury and is currently at a local hospital.
