WATERLOO, Iowa (AP) - Two Waterloo men face charges in connection to a brief police chase.

The Waterloo Police Department says officers attempted a traffic stop Saturday night that began the short pursuit. The car then abruptly stopped and two people inside fled on foot.

Waterloo television station KWWL reports (https://bit.ly/1omlgy6 ) officers chased the driver, 30-year-old Dennis Brown Jr., and a passenger, 28-year-old Antonio Evans. They eventually captured both men.



Brown is accused of dropping a handgun on the ground as he tried to get out of the vehicle. He faces charges of possession of a firearm as a felon, eluding, and interference with official acts. Evans faces charges of aiding and abetting interference with official acts involving a firearm.

Court records do not list attorneys for the men.
