Fire damages Hoven High School in northern SD

HOVEN, S.D. (AP) - A high school in northern South Dakota is severely damaged after an overnight fire.

Authorities say the blaze at Hoven High School started around 1 a.m. Sunday and was still burning after sunrise.

Peggy Petersen is the superintendent of the Hoven School District. She tells KELO-TV (https://bit.ly/1tCnedw ) that the blaze will leave a lasting impact in the close-knit community.

About 55 students attend the combined junior high and high school.

Petersen says fire crews from at least three other cities responded to the scene.

The station reports the fire is under investigation.
