LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - The Pulitzer Prize-winning author of “The Warmth of Other Suns” is receiving an honorary degree from Bates College.

Author Isabel Wilkerson was the keynote speaker at the college’s 148th commencement ceremony Sunday.

All told, about 450 Bates undergraduates from 31 states and 34 countries are being awarded degrees.



Others getting honorary degrees are John Seely Brown - a pioneering computer scientist; actress and activist Glenn Close and David Shaw, founder and CEO of IDEXX.
