FREEMAN, S.D. (AP) - More than 100 people have signed a petition seeking to oust the school superintendent in Freeman.

Detractors of Superintendent Don Hotchkiss allege that he intimidates students and parents, doesn’t properly deal with bullying and prevents exchange students from enrolling, among other issues.

Hotchkiss tells The Daily Republic newspaper (https://bit.ly/1kaoqST ) that there’s “plenty of misinformation, opinion and outright untruths.” He says it’s time to move on from the matter.

The petition has been submitted to the school board.

About 1,300 people live in the southeastern South Dakota city.
