NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey’s attorney general says a man who lived above a day care center has been sentenced to three years in prison on child pornography charges.
Cesar De Jesus Salgado-Maya, formerly of Audubon, was sentenced Friday in Superior Court in Camden.
The attorney general’s office says the 25 year-old Mexican national pleaded guilty April 17 to a charge of offering child pornography. He must register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law and could face deportation.
Salgado-Maya was among 27 defendants arrested in 2012 in “Operation Watchdog.” Detectives in the multi-agency investigation traced digital fingerprints from the images as they passed through cyberspace.
Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman said it was alarming that Salgado-Maya lived above a day care center while sharing videos online of children being sexually exploited.
