NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Prosecutors have charged the former treasurer of a New Jersey youth sports league with embezzling tens of thousands of dollars.

The Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office says it was notified by the Flemington-Raritan Baseball League’s directors that they found discrepancies after an audit of the organization’s finances.

Authorities allege the league’s treasurer, Kevin Lockrey, had embezzled more than $100,000.

The 42-year-old Flemington resident was arrested on Thursday. He faces charges of theft by deception.

Lockrey was released after posting bail. It’s not immediately known if he has an attorney.
