GREEN RIVER, Utah (AP) - Federal officials say an oil leak in a southeast Utah field has been contained.

The federal Bureau of Land Management says a leaking oil well about 12 miles southeast of the town of Green River was reported Wednesday morning.

BLM field manager Beth Ransel says at one point,80 to 100 barrels an hour were leaking onto BLM land in the Salt Wash field southeast of Interstate 70.

Ransel says officials do not believe oil reached the Green River and are still trying to determine how much was leaked.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1njyeNp) the well belongs to the small Utah company SW Energy.

SW Energy hired emergency spill response workers to help contain and clean up the spill.

Messages left with SW Energy were not returned Friday.
