STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) - Penn State has named a new dean for its College of Communications.

Marie Hardin has been serving as a journalism professor and as associate dean for undergraduate and graduate education.

University trustees will vote on Hardin’s appointment at their July meeting.

Doug Anderson is retiring as dean after 15 years on the job.

Hardin also directs the school’s Arthur W. Page Center for Integrity in Public Communication, and serves as associate director of its John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.

Penn State says her selection followed a national search.
