RIVERHEAD, N.Y. (AP) - A New York mother has pleaded not guilty to a 14-count indictment charging her with driving drunk with her three daughters in the car.
Sarah Knakal was arrested on Mother’s Day Eve in Huntington Station. Suffolk County Police say she was arrested after crashing into a pole and a signpost on Jericho Turnpike.
Police say she allegedly shoved a police officer and tried to flee the scene with her three daughters. The girls are aged 5, 7 and 9.
Knakal was arrested nearby about 10 minutes later.
She pleaded not guilty Thursday to aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child, child endangerment, leaving the scene and harassment. She is being held in the Suffolk County jail on $30,000 bail.
