BOHEMIA, N.Y. (AP) - A taxi driver whose vehicle struck the rear of a bus on Long Island has been seriously hurt.
Suffolk County police say 33-year-old Michael Lupo of Centereach was working for Islandwide Taxi when he hit a Suffolk County Transit bus stopped at a red light in Bohemia. It happened around 6:50 p.m. Tuesday.
Lupo was treated at the scene and then flown by county police helicopter to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he is being treated for severe leg and chest injuries.
The bus driver and a passenger were not injured.
An investigation is continuing.
