MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (AP) - An eighth-grade student has died after he collapsed during gym class at a southern New Jersey school.
Mount Laurel school district officials say the Harrington Middle School student was doing “routine activity” when he collapsed Wednesday afternoon. He was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
It’s not yet clear what caused the boy’s collapse, but authorities say the death is not considered suspicious.
The child’s name has not been disclosed.
Counselors will be at the Burlington County school on Thursday to provide support to students and staff.
