PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Providence courts building that houses Providence Superior Court and the state Supreme Court was evacuated for about half an hour due to a small fire.

Court spokesman Craig Berke says there was a fire in an elevator motor Wednesday afternoon at the Licht Judicial Complex.

He says there was smoke on all floors, and the building was evacuated around 2:30 p.m.

People were let back in to the building around 3 p.m.
