CLEVELAND, Texas (AP) - Some Houston-area sheriff’s deputies have fatally shot an armed woman who allegedly pointed a rifle at officers during a domestic dispute and house fire.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday did not immediately release the name of the woman who died in the confrontation at a home in Cleveland.
Lt. Brady Fitzgerald says deputies Tuesday night responded to a family violence situation and arrived to find the house on fire. Fitzgerald says an armed woman came out of the burning home and pointed a rifle at deputies.
Authorities say the woman threatened deputies before officers opened fire. She died at the scene.
Fitzgerald says two deputies will be placed on administrative leave during a review of the shooting.
Autopsy results are pending.
