FRIENDSHIP, Wis. (AP) - An Adams County judge has sentenced a man to 11 years in a secure mental health facility for fatally shooting his girlfriend.

A criminal complaint says Coleman Dybul was sleeping when his 27-year-old girlfriend, Toni Voss, startled him and he shot her with a loaded gun he kept next to the bed in 2013. The complaint says the Marine veteran suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder and was addicted to alcohol and drugs.

The Daily Tribune Media (https://wrtnews.co/1jUHgs1 ) says Dybul earlier pleaded no contest to second-degree reckless homicide and was found not guilty by reason of mental disease. The 29-year-old Adams man apologized to Voss’ family during sentencing Tuesday.
