FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) - The trial of a Fairhaven driver charged with striking and killing a pedestrian crossing the street in town and injuring another has started in Fall River Superior Court.
Renee Andrews faces charges including motor vehicle homicide and leaving the scene of personal injury and/or death accident.
Prosecutors say the 37-year-old Andrews struck and killed Katelyn Brienzo and injured her boyfriend, Ellery Reynolds, in November 2011.
Andrews has pleaded not guilty. Her lawyer has not commented.
The Standard-Times (https://bit.ly/1k4UJlZ ) reports that Brienzo’s brother, Joel Brienzo, testified on Tuesday about his frantic efforts to save his sister’s life in the minutes after she was struck. He said his sister’s shoes were in the middle of the crosswalk and her glasses, keys and earrings were in the road.
