INDIO, Calif. (AP) - Two 9-month-old terriers that were rescued from a car with a temperature over 130 degrees inside during the recent Southern California heat wave are now up for adoption.

The Desert Sun (https://bit.ly/1k5JCcw) reports Wednesday that a Riverside County sheriff’s deputy smashed the window of a car in an Indio parking lot to save the dogs.

The male and female pups had been locked inside the vehicle in the middle of the afternoon during a sweltering heat wave.

The temperature inside the car was 134 degrees.

The dogs’ adoption fees are $105 each. Dog licenses, which are required, are $16 each.

The dogs’ owner has been cited for leaving them in the car and gave up the animals to authorities.
