DEDHAM, Mass. (AP) - A jury has acquitted a Weymouth man who’d been charged in connection with his father’s death.

The Patriot Ledger (https://bit.ly/1o1EpFh ) reports that a Norfolk Superior Court jury on Monday found 22-year-old Michael Beaudry not guilty of manslaughter and assault and battery in connection with the February 2013 death of 58-year-old Ronald Beaudry. The verdict came after about 40 minutes of deliberations.

Prosecutors say Beaudry struck his father on the head with a length of PVC pipe outside their home after an argument.

The older man struck his head when he hit the ground. He was taken to a hospital where he later died.

The younger man told police that he reacted to his father coming at him outside the home and didn’t mean to hurt him.
