WETHERSFIELD, Conn. (AP) - Wethersfield police are investigating the death of an elderly woman whose body was found in a house last week.

Police Chief James Cetran says it’s unclear how long the woman had been dead. He says it’s believed she was dead for a while, and it’s not known if she lived at the house.

Police have not been able to positively identify the woman. The cause of death also has not been determined. Toxicology tests are being done by the medical examiner

Cetran says police spoke to a man who lives at the house, but he would not identify him or discuss details of what he told authorities.

Police responded to the house on Stillman Road on May 14 for a wellbeing check requested by a relative.

Cetran says no charges have been filed.
