LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Democrat Kenneth Stepp has won the primary election in Kentucky’s 5th Congressional District and will face longtime Republican U.S. Rep. Hal Rogers in the fall election.
The district covers a wide swath of eastern and southern Kentucky.
The Democratic nominee faces especially long odds against Rogers, who serves as chairman of the House Appropriations Committee.
Rogers has served in Congress since 1981.
