NORTHWOOD, Iowa (AP) - The trial of a Northwood man charged with first-degree murder has been pushed back.

The Mason City Globe Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/TrERjJ ) the trial of 40-year-old Tyrone Washington Jr. is scheduled to start Oct. 20 in Webster County. It was scheduled to start June 2.

The newspaper reports Washington was granted a continuance earlier this month.



Washington is accused of fatally stabbing 30-year-old Justina Smith, also of Northwood, on Aug. 5. He has pleaded not guilty.

His trial was moved from Worth County to Webster County.
