ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - State and local officials are holding a ceremony to honor the nearly 60,000 emergency medical service personnel in the state and pay tribute to 12 who died in the line of duty after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Lt. Gov. Robert Duffy and acting state Health Commissioner Howard Zucker are among those who will participate in the annual EMS Memorial dedication ceremony at the Empire State Plaza at 11 a.m. Tuesday.

This year, the names of twelve fallen EMS members will be added to the “Tree of Life” Memorial on the Plaza, bringing the total number of names to 56.
