DENVER (AP) - A man accused of shooting at police while in handcuffs on May 14 has been formally charged.

Isaac Vigil was arrested on drug charges and was being taken to a district police station. After the police vehicle pulled into the parking lot, authorities say Vigil pulled a weapon and shot at the officers and missed. Another police officer opened fire and hit Vigil, sending him to the hospital.

On Tuesday, Vigil was formally charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a weapon by a previous offender and possession of a defaced firearm.

Vigil remains in custody with his bond set at $1 million.
