STOCKTON SPRINGS, Maine (AP) - One driver has died in a three-vehicle accident on Route 1 in the town of Stockton Springs, Maine.

Police said the driver of an SUV traveling north on the road Monday afternoon failed to see a car that had slowed to make a turn. The SUV struck the car and then careened into the opposite lane, striking a car being driving by 79-year-old Philip Grindall, who was heading south. Grindall was pronounced dead at the scene.

The medical conditions of the SUV driver, 29-year-old Jacob Smith and the other car driver, 63-year-old Marcia Evans, were not immediately available.



Police are investigating.
