INDIO, Calif. (AP) - Authorities say two small dogs are recovering after being rescued from a parked car that registered an interior temperature of 134 degrees.

The Riverside Press Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/1nkCoAn ) a sheriff’s deputy smashed the windows of the car outside the county courthouse in Indio on Monday.

Animal control spokesman John Welsh tells the newspaper the terriers were examined and their temperatures were found to be normal. He says the pair is doing fine.



Welsh says the dogs’ owner will be ticketed.

Temperatures in Indio were in the mid-80s on Monday.
