GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities in Glendale are investigating the death of a woman who was fatally struck by a car while jogging.

Glendale police identify the victim as 43-year-old Alisha Church.

They say she was hit while on a jog with a friend about 5:20 a.m. Friday near 75th Avenue and Beardsley Road.

Church was airlifted to a hospital, where she was declared dead.

Police say Church and a 44-year-old woman were jogging on the south side of Beardsley when a car hit Church.

They say the 42-year-old driver from Peoria remained at the scene and was cooperating with investigators.

Police say the accident is under investigation.

They say investigators have yet to determine if impairment or distraction may have been factors in the accident, but they don’t believe speed was a factor.
