SAN DIEGO (AP) - A veteran San Diego police detective claims she was harassed and suffered retaliation from a “good old boy network” in the department.
U-T San Diego (https://bit.ly/1iIQFYV ) says Dana Hoover sued the department on Thursday.
Hoover, a 20-year veteran, worked in the homicide unit for about three years but was transferred last year.
The suit claims a sergeant and two homicide detectives withheld case information, refused to help her on investigations and pulled stunts such as unplugging her phone and hitting her with a chair.
Her suit claims that she was mistreated because of her gender, because she made complaints to supervisors and because the department has what it terms a “good old boy network.”
The city attorney’s office says it won’t comment but will present the facts in court.
