KENNEWICK, Wash. (AP) - A 19-year-old Richland man who fired the final shot at a wounded teen in Richland because he couldn’t stand to watch him twitch has been sentenced to 31 years in prison.
The Tri-City Herald reports (https://bit.ly/1fWH3nC ) John C.I. Young was sentenced Friday, one week after a Benton County Superior Court jury convicted him of first-degree murder with a firearm.
The jury found Young acted with premeditated intent in Joshua Snapp’s death. Snapp was shot three times after he went with Young and Joshua H. Hunt to a secluded spot near Horn Rapids on the Fourth of July.
Hunt was convicted in February of second-degree murder with a firearm. The jury could not agree on the higher charge of first-degree murder. The 20-year-old was sentenced to 23 years in prison.
Hunt had accused Snapp of being a thief and told friends he would kill him.
