DOVER, Del. (AP) - Authorities say a man sought in the stabbing and robbery of an 82-year-old Dover man has been arrested in Mississippi.
Dover police say U.S. Marshals arrested 38-year-old Timothy Safford Friday in Moss Point, Mississippi. Authorities say he is being held in the jail in Jackson County, Mississippi, awaiting extradition.
Dover police say marshals received a tip after Stafford bragged about his alleged role in the crime.
Officers say on April 17, two people broke into the man’s home, tied him up, stabbed him and threatened to cut off his ear.
Thirty-three-year-old Shirley Smith, an acquaintance of the victim, was arrested later that day and charged with kidnapping, robbery, assault and other offenses.
