MUSKEGON, Mich. (AP) - A 77-year-old former pastor of a western Michigan church has been convicted in the rape of two young relatives and inappropriately touching a third over a span of years.

The Muskegon Chronicle reports (https://bit.ly/1iIk7hK ) that a jury found Carlton Johnson guilty Friday of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Johnson had been bishop of Faith Congregational Church of God in Christ in Muskegon.

Court testimony showed the sexual assaults occurred between 2006 and 2012 when the girls were age 15 and younger.

The newspaper reports that about six other women testified that they had been victimized years earlier. A 70-year-old woman testified she was sexually assaulted as long ago as 1957.

Sentencing is scheduled June 2 in 14th Circuit Court.
