TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - Four men are in custody after Pima County Sheriff’s detectives seized about 4,600 pounds of marijuana worth an estimated $2.3 million.

Sheriff’s officials say a tip regarding suspicious activity involving a residence in the county.

The tip led to surveillance and other investigative measures for several weeks by the department’s Narcotics and Special Investigations Section.



Sheriff’s officials say a traffic stop was attempted by deputies Friday, but the vehicle failed to stop. The vehicle stopped a short distance away and the suspects fled but were soon apprehended.

Deputies discovered numerous bales of marijuana inside the vehicle.

Three residences and another vehicle were later searched.

The four suspects are being held on suspicion of multiple felony charges, including marijuana, narcotics, and weapons violations.
