BALTIMORE (AP) - Baltimore school officials say a 14-year-old student is in stable condition after being stabbed by an older student at their school.

Baltimore City Public Schools spokeswoman Edie House Foster says a 17-year-old stabbed the younger victim Friday morning during an altercation in the hallway of the Friendship Academy of Science and Technology in the Canton neighborhood. The victim was taken to Johns Hopkins Hospital.

The suspect was taken into custody. House Foster says school officials plan take disciplinary action.
