COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A southwestern Illinois woman is jailed in lieu of $100,000 bond after being accused of involuntary manslaughter in connection with a friend’s shooting death.
The (Alton) Telegraph (https://bit.ly/1jit6oJ) reports a Madison County grand jury indicted 26-year-old Katelyn Stapleton of Collinsville.
The indictment accuses Stapleton of recklessly causing 23-year-old Andrew Birch’s death on Feb. 23 with a handgun during what investigators say was an accidental shooting at a Collinsville home.
Online court records don’t show whether Stapleton has an attorney. Calls by The Associated Press to a home telephone listing for her went unanswered Monday.
